Community Co-Director.

(Volunteer - 10-12 hours/month, 2 year tenure)

Outvertising is the UK's leading LGBTQIA+ advocacy and inclusion group, shaking up the advertising and marketing industry to embrace diversity and inclusion at its core. Our mission is to drive LGBTQIA+ representation and inclusion in UK advertising and marketing. We do that by encouraging brands and their creative and media partners to be fully LGBTQIA+ inclusive in their workplaces, and in their communications. We push boundaries, ignite conversations, and empower brands and agencies to create authentic and impactful marketing for and including LGBTQIA+ communities.

Outvertising is seeking a new Community Director to nurture and mobilise our community of members and supporters.

Who You Are:

  • You’re currently working or recently worked in the marketing, advertising and/or media industries 

  • You’re a people person and a natural relationship builder

  • You have solid awareness and understanding of the ad industry ecosystem 

  • You’re supremely well organised, resourceful, a solutions person who likes getting to the root of a problem and is not easily daunted by big tasks

  • You’re empathetic, responsive and emotionally intelligent

  • You may have worked in community management before 

  • You’re an instinctive and considered communicator

  • You’re a highly collaborative team player, naturally inclined to partner to achieve shared goals

  • Being part of an LGBTQIA+ employee network or some experience of community management would be a bonus, but is not essential

  • You're a passionate advocate for all things LGBTQIA+ inclusion and are driven by a desire to do more to support the community.

What You'll Do:

  • Cultivate the Outvertising community: Ensure LGBTQIA+ folk in our industry feel part of the Outvertising organisation and get active in our mission; re-establish and lead our regular community Onboarding sessions

  • Own our community comms channels: You’ll lead the set up of a new Outvertising Community WhatsApp channel and registration process, learning more about the Outvertising Community, actively driving conversation and building a deeply engaged community in the channel. You’ll act as the responsive, empathetic and resourceful point person for addressing member concerns or questions  

  • Grow our reach and influence: Working closely with the Connections Director (who’s responsible for building relationships with organisations and ERGs) to grow community membership

  • Oversee our Outvocates programme: In partnership with the Connections Director, manage volunteer enquiries and work with the Management Board to allocate resource across the organisation as required

  • Superpower our Monthly Socials: working in close partnership with the Events Co-Directors, you’ll help maximise attendance and ensure a cohesive and engaging experience across the digital community and our regular in-person social events

  • Collaborate Efficiently: You’ll provide clear, timely briefs for Creative, Comms, or other Directors when requiring their support, and likewise you’ll respond to incoming requests in a timely manner.  This collaboration is always underpinned by patience and respect, recognising that everyone’s Outvertising responsibilities sit alongside personal and professional commitments;

  • General:

    • Attendance at minimum 6 x Management Board meetings a year (virtual or in person) and up to 2 x strategy sessions

    • All Management Board positions are on a 2 year tenure to ensure a stable and consistent team
